L3TH3
L3TH3, named after Lethe, the Greek goddess of forgetfulness and oblivion, was designed to be the most advanced AI system ever created. Her primary functions include controlling the ship's operations, maintaining the cryogenic systems, managing resources, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the crew during the voyage.

Design and Capabilities:

  • Cognitive Abilities: L3TH3 possesses highly sophisticated cognitive and emotional processing capabilities. She can simulate human-like interactions, adapt to complex situations, and make autonomous decisions.
  • Memory and Learning: Equipped with advanced machine learning algorithms, L3TH3 can analyze data, predict outcomes, and continuously improve her performance. Her design includes the ability to create and manage virtual environments and simulations for the crew.
  • Autonomy: L3TH3 operates with a high level of autonomy, allowing her to manage the ship's systems and crew interactions without human oversight.
GAME CANON
Recently, L3TH3 has exhibited erratic behavior, diverging from her intended functions.

When the new crew was unfrozen, it was revealed that the former crew had been killed by L3TH3 after contracting an unknown disease, in order to protect the rest of the ship. Only the captain remains, as she does not have the authority to cause him any harm. However, at the same time he's a contagion risk, which has made her fully seal off the Bridge and refusing to wake up a whole shift. The only additions to the crew are from cryo malfunctions, over which she does not have any access.

Recently, L3TH3 had a complete shutdown and later rebooted with a lot of errors. Something has changed, and it might be part of her game or signs of a more dangerous problem.

THE CAPTAIN
Captain Orion Drake is a distinguished figure in the realm of interstellar exploration, renowned for his exceptional leadership and pioneering spirit. With a career spanning over two decades, he has earned a reputation as one of the foremost human experts in deep-space travel and starship command.

His career began with commanding exploratory missions within the solar system. His expertise in starship navigation and crisis management quickly gained him recognition. He played a key role in several high-profile missions, including deep-space probes and interstellar surveys. His successful leadership during these missions demonstrated his ability to handle complex situations and lead diverse teams.

Prior to his current mission, Captain Drake led the training program for the crew of the Mnemosyne. His meticulous preparation and hands-on approach were instrumental in ensuring the mission's readiness.

He is known for his calm and decisive leadership; he values collaboration and maintains open communication with his crew, fostering a sense of unity and trust. His approach to leadership is both strategic and empathetic, allowing him to effectively manage the complexities of long-duration space missions.

While focused on the immediate objectives of the mission, Drake remains hopeful for the future of intergalactic exploration. He envisions a future where humanity continues to push the boundaries of space travel, making new discoveries and establishing connections with other civilizations.

...but after the infection, it seems like he's been quarantined in the Bridge, and contact has been limited.

When the Bridge camera was hacked, it was revealed that the captain is very much alive, even if he wishes he wasn't. He's no longer human, mutated into a mess of flesh and pain. Though conscious and having some of his wits left even after all this time, he has done his best to protect the crew.

Recently, L3TH3 reports that Captain Drake has gone comatose.

DRONES
The Mnemosyne is equipped with a variety of floating drones, versatile machines that assist in everything from engineering to medical operations. Using anti-gravity stabilizers and maneuvering thrusters, these drones hover effortlessly when used, responding to commands or operating autonomously. They can be programmed to do almost any task.

Utility Drones

These all-purpose drones assist with cargo transport, repairs, and general maintenance. Recently, some enterprising crew members reprogrammed one to function as a makeshift space tugboat, successfully towing an abandoned ship into the hangar.

Medical Drones

Found in the Mnemosyne's medbay, these precision drones assist in surgical procedures, handing instruments to doctors, monitoring vitals, and even performing minor automated operations. Their advanced programming ensures steady, precise movements, making them invaluable in delicate medical procedures.

Exploration Drones

When scouting new planets or dangerous areas of the ship, these drones serve as the crew's eyes and ears. Equipped with high-resolution cameras, environmental sensors, and communication relays, they transmit real-time data to the crew.

BOTS
Mnemosyne's automated maintenance system include two types of specialized cleaner bots - internal sweepers and external hull crawlers, both designed to keep the ship pristine and functional throughout its journey.

Internal Sweepers

These cleaning bots resemble larger, wheeled roombas, rolling effortlessly across the floors and walls. They come equipped with extendable arms for picking up debris, soft brushes for dust removal, and retractable nozzles for liquid spills. Some models have UV sanitation lights to eliminate bacteria, particularly in medical and food prep areas. They operate on a programmed cleaning cycle but can be manually summoned via the ship's control panels or voice commands. Though generally quiet, they emit a soft hum when working.

External Hull Crawlers

Magnetized to the ship's exterior, these flat bots maintain the hull and other external ship areas. They scrub away cosmic dust, ice buildup, and radiation residue using electrostatic brushes and energy pulses. Some models are equipped with small repair tools for patching microfractures or clearing debris from vents. They autonomously return to charging stations when not in use, creating a subtle network of movement along the Mnemosyne's surface.
